Scientific Programme

The bulk of the time will be devoted to present and discuss ideas for the 20-year vision for TRIUMF across the full breadth of its science program.

  • Accelerator Science
  • Data Science
  • Life Sciences
  • Nuclear Science
  • Particle Physics
  • Quantum Materials
  • Quantum Technologies

As always, there is time reserved for the TRIUMF User Group Annual General Meeting.

The program will be organized with the following key program elements:

  • Monday: Current TRIUMF science program in Five-Year Plan 2020-25
  • Tuesday: Science drivers + international planning exercises
  • Wednesday: Topical talks
  • Thursday: Topical talks + Topical parallel sessions
  • Friday: New potential initiatives + Reports from parallel sessions + TUG AGM

Science Week will also provide context of national and international science planning exercises, such as the Canadian Sub-Atomic Physics (SAP) Long Range Planning process, the nuclear and particle physics strategic planning processes in the US (NSAC, SNOWMASS) and in Europe (NuPECC, CERN European Strategy Group (ESG)) and similar processes in other fields.

A special emphasis of the 2020 Science Week will be given to enable cross- and inter-disciplinary discussion throughout the TRIUMF science program. We hope to bring together many members of the TRIUMF community and have fruitful and innovative ideas and discussions as the starting point of the TRIUMF 20-year vision process.

The parallel sessions on Thursday will allow for more in-depth discussions and community contributions.

If you want to contribute, please reach out to any of the conveners for the Science Week program: Rick Baartman, Beatrice Franke, Tobias Junginger, Kenji Kojima, David Morrissey, Caterina Ramogida, Chris Ruiz, Monika Stachura, Oliver Stelzer-Chilton
