Scientific Programme

There are a few key points to be discussed at the Town Hall that are of particular interest to the users:

1) The presented milestones in this plan are substantially delayed relative to previous estimates, and result from extensive investigation into detailing the schedule given the available manpower.

2) The CANREB EBIS charge breeder has been brought forward in the project schedule to expedite the process of providing higher-quality ISAC beams to ISAC-II, and is now the first "science enabling milestone".

3) To explore possibilities of speeding up the science deliverables, the ARIEL project team would like to investigate the best periods for possible extended shutdowns, and how this might impact the users.

4) Concurrently with this process, TRIUMF is also pursuing initiatives to improve the performance and reliability of the ISAC target modules.

During the Town Hall Meeting, the users will have an opportunity to ask questions, provide initial feedback on the current plan and explore ways in which they can potentially contribute to the ARIEL project.

Following the Town Hall meeting a response document will be prepared by the TUG user representatives for the The ARIEL project team based on user inputs and comments regarding the proposed plan.
