Scientific Programme

  • We want to discuss at TRIUMF about Target Module (TM), new developments, and alternative and additional ways to improve beam delivery for the users at ISAC at an open workshop with users and TUEC at November 8, 2019.
  • The workshop will also provide opportunities for Physical Sciences Division and Accelerator Division to present some more details on past performances, like number of delivered shifts/hours, number of completed/scheduled experiments, etc. but also number of experiments (shifts) on the books that require certain conditions (like TM high voltage), etc.
  • In addition, we will have the opportunity to look at details of the so-called strawman schedule for next year (2020), and discuss alternatives.
  • We consider (also to run at lower HV at the modules)
    • a new low energy beam line system into the existing RFQ, with better designed optics to optimize the RF booster and for transmission.
    • An additional RFQ system with higher longitudinal acceptance (bunching) acceptance.
    • TM3 refurb to be ready in 2021.
    • refurbishments for TM2 and TM4, following the lessons learned rom TM3, getting them ready for 2023
  • For a) there is also the idea to consider a complete re-design of the low-energy area, to enhance output, once ARIEL is on-line, for example, separate fundamental symmetry (Francium and future eEDM) area.
